Delays & EDCT

SimpleAvWx watches the flights in the sequence shown in My Trip for traffic management programs. If one affects a flight, a line appears under that flight in the map’s flight panel, and you can get a notification.

About this informationFlight and delay information comes from FAA System Wide Information Management (SWIM) feeds, processed by SimpleAvWx. It is not official FAA information and may be delayed, incomplete or unavailable during outages. Do not use it as the sole source for flight-safety, law-enforcement or legal decisions. Aircraft enrolled in the FAA LADD program are not shown.

What you’ll see

LineMeaning
GS KXXXGround stop at the flight’s arrival or departure airport (red)
GDP KXXX avg 45 minGround delay program at that airport, with the average delay when it’s known (orange)
AFP KXXXAirspace flow program (orange)
EDCT 1530Z +25The flight’s expect departure clearance time (UTC), and how many minutes later (+) or earlier (−) it is than scheduled

To see the lines, tap the airplane button on the map. When a line is showing, the panel also shows “Traffic management information (TFMS). Not a sole source for flight safety or operational decisions; informational only.” If the information may be old or incomplete, a note says so.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, SimpleAvWx tells you once about each new event, for example “Ground stop at KXXX”, “Ground delay at KXXX”, or “EDCT 1530Z”, with the affected flights. Turn them off any time in the iPhone Settings app → Notifications → SimpleAvWx.

When it checks

My Airline and EDCTs

EDCTs need My Airline set. Ground stops and delay programs don’t.

Where the information comes from

Delay programs and EDCTs come from FAA System Wide Information Management (SWIM) feeds, processed by SimpleAvWx.

Aircraft owners can ask the FAA to list an aircraft in the Limiting Aircraft Data Displayed (LADD) program at faa.gov/pilots/ladd. Planned maintenance and outages are posted under Service notices on the Support page.
