Where the data comes from
- METAR, TAF, and flight category: NOAA / National Weather Service Aviation Weather Center (aviationweather.gov), delivered through the SimpleAvWx server.
- D-ATIS and RVR: FAA data feeds, delivered through the SimpleAvWx server. Available at airports that publish them.
- Hourly and 10-day outlook: Apple Weather (WeatherKit). Data sources.
- Radar, lightning, and cell tops: NOAA / NWS radar services, the Iowa Environmental Mesonet (Iowa State University), and NOAA GOES satellite lightning data.
- Airport and runway information: OurAirports and aviationweather.gov station data. Magnetic variation is calculated from NOAA's World Magnetic Model.
